John,
We really loved your shows in Anchorage recently. Hope you can come back again soon.

Mr. Studebaker,
Thanks for stopping by Chico Hot Springs in Pray Montana on a Sunday night! This Chicago boy - Montana transplant was in bad need of hearing some authentic Chicago Blues. You and Bob rocked that place like nobody can. Hope I can catch you all next time I'm back in sweet home Chicago. Love the Old School Rockin' CD. It sounds best loud.
Bret De Young

Hi John,
Happy 60th for the 5th November! Short birthday tribute to be featured on Blues at The Table between 10pm and midnight (GMT +2). Finest of blues from Cape Town, South Africa. Thanks for the consistently excellent blues!

John,
Thanks for the great show in Boise this last weekend. So worth the four hour drive! It was great to see you again. We listened to That’s the Way You Do, all the way home!

Studebaker John's Maxwell Street Kings CD "That's the Way You Do" is sensational. 15 tracks!! I'd say it's everything you would ever want in a Studebaker John CD, or any other blues CD for that matter. THANK YOU John, for your effort!

Hi John
Fantastic show at the Blues Can in Calgary on June 3 & 4 2011. Thanks for dropping in for the Jam on Saturday and playing a few songs with Tim Williams. It was great to sit and talk with you. Hope to see you and your band back here soon.
Bob Corlett

Hi John
Great show at Buddy Guy's this week (May 2011). It was a highlight of our once-in-a-lifetime visit from UK to Chicago. Good to talk in the break about your guitar and battered but not-so-old amp! Hope we might see you on this side of the pond before too long.
Ray Palmer

Hello John,
We saw you at the Sunshine Lounge in Boise on Saturday October 17! OMG what a show!!! Anyone that missed that should be ashamed. You are one of the most talented self-taught musicians I have ever heard and it was a real pleasure to listen to you. My husband and I were the couple that sat up front. He too is self taught and was amazed by your show. Thank you so much and we will watch for next appearance in Boise!!
Kind regards,
Peggy

Really enjoyed you & Melvin Taylor’s (not forgetting Kenny Coleman & Felton Crews) incredible blues revue last night (10/2/09) in Picton, Ontario. My buddies and I were blown away! Come back soon! Reddog,

I just have discovered your videos on youtube.com. As I have been playing harp for 25 years now, it is not easy to impress me any more. But what I heard there was so beautifull and nasty at the same time that it overehelmed me. Extremely good and soulfull playing. Thank you and keep blowin that horn...
Rainer Sochting aka Harpface from Germany based " Harpface and the Heat"

Just want to say how much we enjoyed you at big cities in Rockford. Thanks for signing c.d. for my brother. We all appreciate you still playing even as your band was packing up. That is something I will always remember. And will take your advice and try to see you play at buddy guys sometime soon. Have a Merry Christmas.

John,
Your show at Brackin's in Maryville, TN was fantastic, and it was great to get a chance to visit, reminisce about Chicago, and hear stories about the musicians you've known and worked with. Hope you get back this way again!

Hey, Studebaker John and the Hawks,
Just wanted to let you know what a great time we had at your show in Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada) last Saturday night. We apologize for subjecting you to our freezing cold weather but thank you for heating up our evening. Your expertise with the guitar and harmonica was amazing, and, combined with those fantastic vocals … well, what can we say – you guys were a marvel. Thanks for giving us such a memorable evening!

'Self-Made Man' is terrific. Just put it on the new blues shelf with an A+. Caught John at our local club a couple of weeks ago--great show. Jeff Hayward, WMHB, Colby College, Waterville, ME

Hi folks,
I was fortunate enough to attend Studebaker John's show this past Sunday night at the Midnight Blues Club and Restaurant in Auburn, Maine. As an avid, longtime blues fan and blues beat writer for the local paper, I've seen a large number of national blues acts.
I've seen several great guitarists and many gifted harp players, yet had never witnessed one musician so proficient with both instruments. In a world full of ear-bending rock/blues bands, this three-man unit delivers a lively, swingin' sound that is quite unique and pleasant. Grimaldi's voice is inarguably one of the most distictive in modern blues, and he uses it to his advantage. For blues fans who love that genuine, from-the-heart Chicago sound, Studebaker John & The Hawks are sure to please.
Best regards,
Phil Whipple
Auburn, Maine

Great show in Kearney. We had a delightful evening. The music was powerfully charged and imminently danceable. Don't college kids know how to dance anymore? Hope to see you again and hear more original music. Keep it up. Gregg

Heard you on Midnight Blues. Writing you from Canada and hope you get to Canada sometime. We have a great Bluesfest in Ottawa. Hope to hear you live sometime! Connie 3/18/06

Listened to you 15 or more years ago in Palatine and thought you were ok. The last few years, I have gotten all your cd's and man, what a huge, huge leap from then. I love not only the excellent sound quality now, but your music, especially the words ring close to home and I think you are now one of the best around! I hope to see you perform soon. Here's hoping you perform at Chord on Blues in St. Charles Illinois! Larry 3/1/06

Hello!
I’m writing from Slovakia, Europe .Do you plan to visit Eastern Europe in the future? I have friends in Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary who like your music too, and it would be great if you could manage a tour in these areas. I hope we’ll see you soon.
Thanks!

John got to hear your great music when you were in Nashville. We bought one of your CD’s and it is a mainstay in our daily listening. We just got lucky that night to stroll in where you were playing. We enjoyed ourselves beyond all belief. I wish that I had known about your talent and music 20+ years ago. The best of luck in the future and we will be watching your website to see when you will be in our area again. Thanks for the entertaining evening.

Hi John
It was great to see and to meet you at 'The Musician' in Leicester last Saturday. My son Marvin and his girlfriend Rachel bought the tickets as a late mothers day present for me - I'm so glad they did! What a fantastic show you and Lazy Lester gave. Brilliant!
Please try and add Liverpool to your next tour, I'd love to see you again.
Kathleen Phythian Liverpool England KPHypnotherapy 3/30

Dear Studebaker

I was one of the very few at your gig with Lazy Lester on Friday 25 th March in the Village Pub in Leith.
Both you and Lazy gave splendid performances. Please don't judge Scotland on this one poorly advertised and poorly attended gig.
The audience were very appreciative of your talents and I for one look forward to coming to see you at the Edinburgh Blues Festival in August
I hope the rest of your tour is a success, please pass on regards to Lazy (he's a national treasure)
Best wishes and "Haste ye back"
See you in August

John,
I am proud to say I have seen your act three times now, and each one gets better and better....the last time was at Wonderfuls, and you had Willie the Touch with you...and god forgive me I wish i could recall the bass players name..I mean how many peope do you know that can spank a 6 string bass guitar like that I ask you?I had chills all through the first set! you were on FIRE!!! Such precision, particularly considering the fact that the three of you had only been together for a little over a month, Stand back America, if you three remain together, there will be NO stopping the force that is within you! I had such an incredible amount of fun, and I thought it would be hard because I had quit drinking, and only drank coffee all night, but it was the BEST!
Bless you and keep you safe John, while your traveling abroad..

I've just been listening to the quietly scorching music on Promise Of Love. It's quite a statement of your talent that you carry these songs with such power and warmth in a more acoustic setting. Anyone who loves the blues or anyone who loves music with depth and soul will want to have Promise Of Love. Thank you, John.

Stuebaker - I was blown away by the performance that you and the Hawks put on at the BLUEStage Club in Napoleon, MI last Saturday night. It was an absolute honor to be your opening act. Hope I get a chance to do it again in the future...and DEFINITELY hope to catch your show again. Keep bringing the blues to the world, man! Peace! Kev

I caught your show in Louisville on April 5 and was as impressed with the live performance as I am with the CD music. I bought the live at WFPK CD and it is great also. Can't wait for Studebaker to return. Studebaker John mentioned that one of his mentors is Elmore James which I think he has surpassed and that is saying something.

You've come a long way since Hugh's. Love your music, really like the acoustic CD, Promise of Love, and the 8X10 glossy. Your writing captures the very essence of a broken heart. God bless you!

John - you and the band were awesome this past Sat. night at the Stanhope House! We were sitting at the front table and left after the first set ONLY due to the babysitting schedule - otherwise I would've stayed 'til sunup!
Hope your drummer (Earl ?) enjoyed the shot and beer - he definitely deserved it. I've never seen a cymbal fly through the air like that!!
Why don't you get some gigs at Towne Crier? You give one of the very best live performances in the world!

I have been listening to John's music for many years and just ordered the newest cd. John has a unique style! My brother was at a blues fest in Florida a couple of years ago and said John and the Hawks were a smash!! John is also a great guy.
Hope he NEVER stops playing!!! I think he has been under rated and not been recognized for his real talent.
Keep going John!

Thanks for a wonderful performance at Jazz Fest on 8/16. Your music is earthy and sensual and your style unforgettable. You never fail to deliver. You rocked our town. We haven't heard blues this good since the old Benjamin days. Your fans have missed you and we hope we won't have to wait a year to hear you again. I'm enjoying the acoustic CD. The lyrics are hauntingly real and the music mellow and memorable.

John, you put on a dynamite performance at Buddy Guy's last night. Both your slide guitar and harp work are amazing! Your voice fits perfectly with the instrmmental work and I really identify with much of your lyrics. I appreciate it when a talented artist puts everything they have into their craft like that. I thouroughly enjoyed it all and look forward to seeing you perform again soon.
